In a last-minute switch before Rally Sweden, Martin Prokop has reunited with his former co-driver Jan Tomanek.
Tomanek will replace fellow Czech Michal Ernst, who has co-driven Prokop at the Fiesta-powered Jipocar Czech National Team since Rally Catalunya 2012.
Tomanek, 41, has started more rallies alongside Prokop than anybody else. Together they contested six consecutive seasons from 2006 and were Junior Championship winners in 2009.
They last competed together in 2011, before Prokop brought in Zdeněk Hrůza for the 2012 season.
“I drove with two new co-drivers within last two years, both rallying professionals and my good friends,” explained Prokop. “At the end the journey led me back to Jan and I am very happy to be on the same page with him again and that we have got common strong will to work hard on our goals.
“Of course such a change isn ́t easy for me and for the whole team. Michal was a great team mate and I would like to thank him very much for his good job as a co-driver.”
In a statement, Ernst said he accepted and understood the team ́s decision.
“Drivers and teams at the highest levels of World Championships are looking for the absolute and very best resources – including those human ones.
"The conditions are extremely demanding also for the very best co-drivers and if Martin has found that the role suits best to Jan, I understand and accept it.”
Prokop and Tomanek will begin their second partnership on Monday 3 February, the first day of reconnaissance for Rally Sweden.
