Portugal warm-up for Sordo

Dani Sordo will tackle Portugal’s Rali Serras de Fafe next month in preparation for his 2019 WRC debut at Rally Guanajuato México (7 - 10 March).
The Spaniard will drive a Hyundai i20 R5 on the gravel rally, the first round of the Portuguese championship, which runs from 22 - 23 February, two weeks before the WRC's Mexican fixture.
The event will be Sordo and co-driver Carlos del Barrio's second event in an R5-spec i20. They guided the car to a podium at last year’s all-asphalt Rally Barum.
“For me it is important to compete before Rally México,” explained Sordo, who will tackle eight WRC rounds with Hyundai this year and whose last WRC appearance was in Spain last October.
“The Rali Serras de Fafe will help me and Carlos get back into the feel and the pace of competition after a winter out of the car.
"It will be my first time at the event, but I know the conditions and some of the stages as they are the same as Rally de Portugal. It should be very good training for Mexico.”
In Portugal, Sordo will compete alongside a two-car Team Hyundai Portugal squad comprising defending national champion Armindo Araújo and ERC front-runner Bruno Magalhães.
