A pulsating final day fight for honours awaits in the FIA Junior WRC at Corsica linea -Tour de Corse with Swedes Tom Kristensson and Dennis Rådström separated by just 0.4sec on Saturday night.
Kristensson started the second leg with a marginal 0.9sec advantage after Friday’s opening leg, but the battle became even closer as the action switched from the south of Corsica to the island’s northern mountain roads.

He stretched his lead to a comfortable 20sec in the opening speed test when Julius Tannert dropped almost a minute with a puncture, handing second place to Rådström.

The margin stood at almost 18sec at the mid-leg service in Bastia, but Rådström attached hard during the afternoon to bring the margin down to fractions of a second as his rival stuck to his policy of risk-free driving.

“The fight for the lead here is incredibly close and so exciting, I’s a really great feeling to be a part of it,” said Kristensson. “I have my plan which I will stick to. Points, kilometres and finishes are more important to me at the moment.”

Tannert staged a superb recovery after his puncture and ended the day only 6.6sec off the lead. All three drivers are at the wheel of Ford Fiesta R2 cars.

Jan Solans won two stages to hold fourth, but the Spaniard damaged his rear right suspension this morning and is almost four minutes adrift. Tom Williams and Roland Poom complete the top six.
